[Las Vegas Sun] A $300 million lawsuit filed by concert promoter AllGood Entertainment claiming to have been cut out of a deal for a Michael Jackson concert is hanging by a thread after a federal judge dismissed most of the claims. [CNS] France has declared Google a monopoly. Authorities say that the company has to accept advertising from a company whose business the search engine giant didn't want. [NYT] We have news of a settlement. In May, we reported that the trademark owner of "Zorro" had sued Mars Co., maker of M&M's, over a promotion where life-size chocolate pieces dressed up as the famed masked Spanish avenger. According to court papers, the matter has been resolved on unspecified terms. </p>Cameras might eventually be allowed to tape Supreme Court proceedings. Nominee Elena Kagan voiced her enthusiastic support during confirmation hearings Tuesday, following others like Justice Sonia Sotomayor. [WSJ] American folk singer Jake Holmes is suing Led Zeppelin for violating his copyright on a 1967 song "Dazed and Confused," which he says was reworked by the band. It took 40 years to file this lawsuit!? Due to statute of limitations, even if Holmes is successful, he'll only be able to collect damages and royalties for the past three years. [Guardian] A D.C. federal court is hearing arguments today on whether it's proper civil procedure to join thousands of individuals in a single lawsuit targeting anonymous copyright pirates. Two New York men are suing Viacom, MTV, CBS, Spike, ABC and various talent agencies claiming to have come up with the concept behind the sports reality show "Pros vs. Joes." In the complaint, the plaintiffs say they submitted their treatment for a show called "Two Left Feet" to agents and that their treatment proposed a show depicting amateur athletes versus real ones. The degree of similarity between the two show can be no coincidence, say the plaintiffs. Here's the complaint. </p>The federal government has seized domain names and other assets from nine websites allegedly offering downloads of "Toy Story 3," "Iron Man 2," and other films within hours of their release. The campaign, dubbed "Operation in Our Sites," involved 100 agents working in 11 states and the Netherlands in the targeting of cyberlockers. [LAT] Our pal David Bergstein is on the offensive again against creditors who brought an involuntary bankruptcy action against him. [THR] Colleges and universities that receive Title IV federal aid have a deadline of today to implement new procedures and technologies to address illegal file-sharing on campus. [CNet] After three months' delay due to political in-fighting, New York State lawmakers are expected to finally vote on state budget provisions that include multi-year production tax credits. [THR] Speaking of New York, the state's Committee on Judicial Ethics says that judges are free to play in bands for money as long as it doesn't interfere with their day jobs.
